Faith Development

What is a Faith Circle?
One hour on Sunday morning in the sanctuary or watching the live-stream in our homes is wonderful, but it is difficult to grow and nurture deeper relationships with one another.
Faith Circles allow us to grow closer to God and one another.

Jesus longs for us to not just be part of the church, but to be passionate about the church, its people and its mission.

Each Faith Circle will meet once a month, with a purpose and a time of reflection.

If you have questions, please contact Rev. Diann.

Won’t you join us in one of our newly forming Faith Circles?

Following the Way Faith Circle: Hiking

A new adult Faith Circle is forming this summer at First Church on the 2nd Thursday of each month.

We will be offering monthly contemplative hikes for anyone who wants to get outdoors, find a break from the chaos of life, and reconnect with their body and soul.  It’s perfect for the churchgoer who is longing for a deeper spiritual life that is grounded in nature and exercise.
The hike will be part silence, part refection and part casual conversation.
We will seek to find renewal as we become more mindful of our bodies, our thoughts, and the holy ground beneath our feet.
To quote the poet Wendell Berry, “Best of any song is bird song in the quiet, but first you must have the quiet.”  The same is for God’s song.

Our inaugural hike will be:  Thursday, August 12th  Raindate: August 19th
Bear Mountain in Salisbury, CT
3.6 mi  (out and back trail)
It is a moderate hike with 1,031 ft elevation gain (for experienced hikers)

We will meet at 8:00am at the church and carpool or you can meet us at the trail head.
I expect we will return home around 3:30
What is needed:

  • Sturdy hiking shoes
  • Water
  • Snacks
  • Bagged lunch
  • Hiking poles (optional)
