Diann Bailey

Associate Minister

The Reverend Diann Bailey was called in 2014 as Associate Minister of Youth and Intergenerational Ministries.  She has a passion for intergenerational worship and ministry and sees this as a way to stimulate and foster congregational vitality.

Before entering ministry, Diann was a nurse, specializing in Pediatric Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplantation and later in her career, as a Physician Liaison.  She earned a Cooperative Master of Divinity degree from Hartford Seminary and Andover Newton Theological School.  During her time in seminary, Diann served as a Seminary Intern at First Church, Suffield.  Prior to being called to First Church, Suffield, Diann served as the Acting Associate Minister for Faith Formation at First Church, Granby, CT.

Diann enjoys hiking, running, and cycling, as well as reading and knitting.  She is primarily a reader of non-fiction, but on occasion a piece of fiction will capture her heart and mind.

Diann is married to Todd, a marvelous cook and a partner in hiking and cycling.   They have two sons and a daughter-in-love.  Benjamin and Hannah live in Harrisonburg, VA.   Nathaniel is currently a UCC Global Mission Intern, serving in Amman, Jordan.

Diann and Todd live in the Samuel Hayes House, a 245-year-old house in Granby, which in its early years, had been the site of several annual clergy gatherings.  These meetings were the precursors to the CT Conference General Association Meetings, which is the longest running Ecclesiastical Meeting in the United States.  They share their home with Rosie, the field spaniel, named after Rosanna Hayes, the first woman of the house.

Diann loves creative worship, hands-on mission, and facilitating small groups.  She has a passion for creating ways for multiple generations to do ministry together.
